Holiday In Hawaii
Exotic songs of the Islands
This is the music of Romance.....the music of the Islands.....the romance of blue Hawaii.
These soft strains and undulating rhythms bring to you the very essence of the charm which has long made Hawaii a favorite of the romantics. You can almost feel the warmth of the caressing breeze, hear the soft lapping of the waves on the shimmering sands, see the silvery streams of moonlight play hide-and-seek with their reflections in the waters which were so blue only a few hours before beneath the brilliant sunshine.
Makamia and his Moana Islanders, their steel guitars and native instruments, capture the easy, gracious ways of the gloriously lovely islands in this album of varied, familiarly delightful Hawaiian melodies.
The beautiful Waipio and moving Ainahua typify the charm of traditional melodies..... Makalapua brings you the gayety and fun which is interwoven with the sentimental....... the unusual and rhythmic One, Two, Three. Four is a waltz of old Hawaii. The spontaneous excitement of Ta Hu Wa Hu Wa Hi will leave you almost breathless as this throbbing chant is brought up to date in modern Hawaiian fashion.
The softly endearing words of Halona, Ua Like No la Like, Aloha No Au I Ko Maka and Waialae make for dreaming of the fragrance of beautifully fragile leis on a far-flung shore, and the poignancy of Aloha Oe brings with it a feeling of reluctance to leave the romantic islands even in song.
(*) Good but 4" split at top at opening and 1/2" split at bottom at opening - dingy both sides.
