Of All dances based on Latin rhythms, the Cha Cha is by far the most enthusiastically received and enjoyed. It has not only replace the rhumba and mambo but has, in many of the smart spots, also become more popular than the standard fox-trot!

This intriguing new dance step has come to us from Cuba...the insistence of its mesmeric beat conjuring up a vision of exotic dancers, the magic of sultry tropical nights! Although essentially a type or derication of the old Cuban "Dabzon", the Cha Cha is closely related to the Mambo in its basic rhythmic patterns and accents. In fact, there are those who believe that the dance is named from the constant rasping "cha cha cha" sound of the scratcher.
