The A-Team
Originally shown in the U.S. from 1983 to 1987.
"In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they
didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los
Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of
fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe
you can hire the A-Team."
That introduction began the TV show.
The A-Team (The "A" stood for "Alpha") were a former crack commando unit who fought
during the Vietnam War.
Nearing the end of the war The A-Team were wrongly arrested for robbing the Bank of Hanoi.
After being arrested and trialed, they escaped from a maximum security prison (Fort Bragg).
In the years that followed the A-Team were on the run from numerous military pursuers.
During this time the team helped out victimised people in America and beyond, usually for very little money.
The characters consisted of:
Colonel John "Hannibal" Smith, played by George Peppard a veteran film and TV star who passed away in 1994, the
leader of the team, and a master of disguise.
Lieutenant Templeton "Faceman" Peck, played by Dirk Benedict who had previously starred in cult sci-fi series
"Battlestar Galactica", a handsome conman.
Captain H.M. Murdock, played by Dwight Schultz, previous to the A-Team, he had mostly been a theatre actor, an
ace pilot who resided in a mental hospital.
Sergeant Bosco "B.A." Baracus, played by Mr, T (a former bouncer)who was in one of the "Rocky" movie, took the part
of master mechanic / general hard nose.
However, they were also joined by various associates including
Amy Allen played by Melinda Culea - A the newspaper reporter that accompanied the A-Team during 1 and 2 series.
Tawnia Baker played by Marla Heasley, also a reporter.
Frankie "Dishpan" Santana played by Eddie Velez - the "fifth member" of the Team in the 5th series, but
never really managed to fit in.
The Bad Guys:
Colonel Lynch played by William Lucking - Attempted, in vain, to catch the A-Team throughout series 1.
Colonel Decker played by Lance LeGault - Chased the A-Team due to the grudge he held against them from his time in
Vietnam. Appeared in series 2, 3, 4.
General Harlan Fulbright played by Jack Ging - Nicknamed "Bull", General Fulbright pursued the A-Team during series 4,
but had a change of heart about them in his last episode.
General Hunt Stockwell, played by that "Man from U.N.C.L.E", Robert Vaughn. Stockwell captured the A-Team during
series 5 and then forced them to do his bidding.
There are action figures of all the above and well as the van used by the team.
