Spine: Holds the pages and the book together.
On the spine you may find the title of the book, the author's name, the call number, and
the name of the publishing company.
Gutter: Where the pages are attached (either sewn or glued)
Front Cover: The cover of the book protects its pages. It may also tells you the title of the book and the name of the author (Author is the name of the person who wrote the book - and illustrator, and sometimes an illustration
Front Inside Cover: Normally a blank page, afixed to the cover
Title Page: Normally the first page in the book. It tells you the title of the book, who wrote it (the author) and who drew the pictures (the illustrator). It also tells you who published the book.
Back Inside Cover: Again, normally a blank page afixed to the back cover.
Back Cover: Can be blank, or it may have a summary of what the book is about
Writing and illustrations are important parts of a book because without them, there wouldn't be a book!
Call Number: The call number is a group of numbers or letters that tells you where to find the book in the library. It may have numbers or letters. It may even have both numbers and letters. Not All books will have a call number.
Different segments of a book, gathered in the following order:
Half title page, Frontispiece ( the illustration page preceding or normally facing the
title page ), Title page, Printer's Imprint and Copyright notice, Dedication, Preface,
Acknowledgments, A Table of contents. List of illustrations, Introduction, Errata
( a list of corrigenda), Text, Appendices, Author's notes, Glossary, Bibliography, Index,
and Colophon ( an inscription placed at the end oa a book with facts relative to it ).
Publishers sometimes vary the order of inclusion, and not all works contain all segments
indicated.
(2) Books should never be stored in a damp storage area. Mildew can form within just a few days or hours, that will permanently damage binder or leather, and the paper.
(3) When reading, put down your pen or pencil to avoid accidentally marking a page.
(4) Don't store letters, photographs or papers in books, the extra bulk in the pages will cause uneven stress on the glue and binding.
(5) Books to be stored, should be in acid-free boxes or plastic sleeves open at one end to allow for air circulation.
(6) Never - NEVER - use paper clips, pens, pencils, or rubber bands as bookmarks, again the extra bulk in the pages will cause uneven stress on the glue and binding.
(7) Never "dog-ear" (crease a corner of) a page to mark your place.
(8) If you discover insects (book worms) in a book (they sometimes do like to chew on bindings), place the book inside a plastic bag with mothballs (Make sure that the mothballs do not come in direct contact with the book, may stain binder, it will stain leather.), then seal it for a few days.
(9) Soiled leather binding can be cleaned with a soft, dry bristle brush. then protect the leather with a coat of saddle soap or leather preservative.
(10) Enjoy the read.

THE GINNY DOLL FAMILY is the first sequel and gives more information on Ginny as well as all of the Ginny family dolls. This includes, Jill, Jeff, Ginnette, Jimmy, Ginny Baby, Brikette, Angel Baby, Littlest Angel, Li'l Imp, Wee Imp, different forms of Jan, Miss Ginny as well as the Eloise Wilkin designed BABY DEAR series including Baby Dear One, Too Dear, Welcome Home Baby and Welcome Home Baby Turns Two. There are black and white and color photographs that help you identify both the dolls and their clothes. A PRICE GUIDE is included. Postpaid price is $22.
GINNY and VOGUE DOLLS is the second sequel with a great deal more on Ginny and all the family members mentioned above including again the interesting Eloise Wilkin Baby Dear series along with all the Vogue Dolls from 1922 to the present time. There are boy and girl dolls, babies too, with names such as Love Me Linda, Dream Babv, Cracker Jack, Toddles, Nicole, Star Brite, My Angel, Posey Pixie, etc. The early composition and hard plastic dolls are discussed. Truly, Vogue is one of the country's outstanding doll companies with a 75 year history. Many photos including color help identify these dolls and their clothing. An updated PRICE GUIDE is included. Price is $25 postpaid.
TROLL DOLLS is going out of print but there are a limited number still available. Who can forget the old folk tale about the three Billy Goats Gruff and the mean old troll who lived under the bridge and always harassed them? This book traces the history of all the little folk of the world such as elves, fairies, brownies, etc. and, of course, the little troll dolls which, in the form of dolls, always brought their owners good luck. Information is given on troll marks and makers, accessories and clothing. Blystone's Books sold this for $30 plus shipping. My price is $20 postpaid.
